“I just need a little time to get my feet underneath me.”

You may have noticed that I’ve been a little quiet lately.

There’s a reason for that: I went back to teaching.

And, well… teaching at a public school is not exactly for someone looking for more free time.

Right now, the demands of being a teacher have completely gobbled up my time. There are lessons to plan, papers to grade, meetings, emails, students to worry about, and approximately 7,000 things that somehow need to be done before tomorrow.

I knew going back into public education would be a big change, and I knew it would take some time to find my rhythm. What I didn’t expect was just how much of my time it would consume while I’m trying to get everything established.

But this is a choice I’m making.

I’m intentionally spending the next few years working in public education while I continue working toward my doctorate. I’m not here just for a paycheck. I’m here for the experience, too. I want to learn, grow, see how things work from this side of education, and take what I learn with me into whatever comes next.

For now, though, I’m learning to breathe whenever I can.

And unfortunately, some of the things I love most, photography, writing, exploring, and sharing the stories of interesting places, are going to have to take a little bit of a back seat while I figure out this new routine.

That doesn’t mean I’m giving them up.

Not even close.

So please don’t give up on me.

I’ll be back.

There will be more photographs. More stories. More videos. More road trips. More forgotten places, local adventures, and those little discoveries that make me want to grab my camera and go.

I just need a little time to get my feet underneath me.
