5 Haunted Tennessee Locations you can actually Visit

“If you are lucky on the day you travel, there will be a former inmate”

1. The Bell Witch Cave

Located out in Adams Tennessee, the Bell Witch cave is said to be haunted by a Witch that tormented the Bell family back in the 1800’s. I am going to give this a 5 for couples and children under 12 would probably be more comfortable doing something else. There are spiders on the cave ceiling and tight places. It’s also damp and dark. Price $12-$23

2. Shiloh National Military Park– Soldiers from the battles fought here are the most common thing seen. The visitor center offers a video about the war. I would give this a 5 out of 5 for everyone of every age. The driving tour is perfect for the entire family. I suggest bringing a picnic with you for this one. Best of all, this is free.

3. Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary

If you are lucky on the day you travel, there will be a former inmate to talk to you about the prison. It’s famous for having James Earl Ray, the murderer of Martin Luther King Jr. Brushy also held the infamous hole. The prison offers its End of the line Moonshine. I would say that it’s an absolute for couples and children 8 and up. There’s lots of stairs and creepy walkways. Price $17-$150 (Self Guided Tour is $22) https://tourbrushy.com/tours

4. Orpheum Theatre

The theater was built in the early 1900’s and has many ghosts that are said to be long term tenants. From a little girl to a mysterious masked figure. The Theatre offers campus tours. Price $10

5. Stones River National Battlefield

Like Shiloh, this is a location where many soldiers lost their lives, but it has a headless horseman that also haunts the ground. This is perfect for all ages. Sometimes a Park Ranger will tell you stories of some of the most famous people of the battle. Pack a picnic lunch to eat in the park. Price Free.
