“This captivating water feature is a collection of 31 geyser-like fountains commemorating the state’s major lakes, rivers, and tributaries”
In 2000, I visited Nashville’s Bicentennial Capitol Mall with Tessa. The park, located in the shadow of the State Capitol, was built to commemorate Tennessee’s Bicentennial Celebration on June 1, 1996, and covers 11 acres in downtown Nashville.

Bicentennial Capitol Mall highlights many aspects of Tennessee’s history. Features include a 200-foot granite map of the state, a World War II Memorial, a 95-Bell Carillon, a Pathway of History, and the Rivers of Tennessee Fountains.

Along the Walkway of Counties, 11 planters display native plant species from different regions of the state. The park is designed for self-guided tours, and maps are available to help visitors explore its historical and natural landmarks.

The visit ended at the Dancing Fountains, a popular feature for families and children. Bicentennial Capitol Mall remains an accessible, educational, and visually striking site for those interested in Tennessee’s history.
