“My joy isn’t tied to a price tag, and I refuse to let outside expectations define my passions.”
In American culture, we’re constantly told to work hard, go faster, cowgirl up, hustle, girl boss it. Success is often measured by how busy we are, how much money we make, and how much we own. But in all my travels and conversations with the happiest people, I’ve learned something different.
The happiest people I’ve met don’t have the most money or the latest gadgets. They live simply, appreciating life in a way that many of us overlook. They find joy in the little things—things others might take for granted.

I’ve been told many times that loving the simple things is ridiculous, that I need to monetize my photography for it to have value. But I take photos because I love it. There’s an excitement in capturing a moment, in showing the world what I see through my lens—something you might have missed with your own eyes. My joy isn’t tied to a price tag, and I refuse to let outside expectations define my passions.
I also share my travels because I know many people feel that adventure is out of reach. As a single mom with no extra money, I’ve learned how to travel on a budget and find incredible places nearby. When I worked in public schools, I often heard students say they’d never be able to travel because it’s too expensive. But it doesn’t have to be. There are so many beautiful, free places to explore—you just have to know where to look.

For a while, I let pressure and fear keep me from sharing. My job brought me anxiety, and I froze, afraid of what others might think. But I’ve realized that my purpose is to share—whether it’s places, photos, or recipes—because these things bring me joy. They allow me to live with love.
So, if I share a photo you don’t agree with? Scroll on. I’m done letting someone else’s expectations keep me from embracing life’s beauty. My people will find me, and if I’m not your people, that’s okay too.
Life is too short not to share the things that bring us joy. And I’m finally ready to do just that.
